V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Special performances of the Vagina Monologues and other works curated by V-Day are used to help raise awareness and funds to benefit female victims of violence and sexual abuse.

In just ten years, V-Day has raised over $50 million, educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, crafted international educational, media and PSA campaigns, launched the Karama movement in the Middle East, reopened shelters, and funded over 5000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in Kenya, South Dakota, Haiti, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and Iraq.

Over the last eight years, The Empty Space, through its V-Day fairs and productions, has raised over $22,000 for the Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault in Bakersfield. The 'V' in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina.
